Ok, after checking few things out i can say,
it would be difficult to do and it would never look right.

All the meshes, including the ant, spider and ostrich,
are all made for a biped base.
This means there are two "attachment" points for the legs.
Which are the upper right and upper left leg body slots.
It works in the case of the ostrich n/p and looks quite good as its a biped.

When it comes to the ant and spider, it works passably.
That is because the legs are one piece on either side,
so when it walks it looks not bad but not perfect.

To do a horse, you would have to chop off both front and rear legs,
then join them together some how,
then maybe the front leg could use the upper leg slot,
on both sides, but the rear legs would have to trail as it were,
and depend on the movement of the front legs ( in reality the invisible npc legs)
to make it move in unison with the front leg.

Pretty complicated and i dont think it would work,
as in the case of the ant and spider the body sits on top of the legs,
so you dont really see the mesh moving at the join with the body.
In the case of a horse, you would see the legs joining the body somehow
and it would be not easy, to make it look natural and not as tho the legs are stuck on.

The first so called horse mod for Morrowind, before Cait made the horses,
was a nasty horse body thing that waddled when it walked, like a duck,
i can see similar things with this idea.
Someone who is good at animation and physiquing like Cait,
could probably do it and make it look not bad.

Hey, do you mind if I keep that ants mod you sent me and use it on a personal basis to play a headless antaur? ...and maybe post a screenshot or two if it comes out cool?

Do what you like with the meshes lol.
Theres other meshes that can be used for an ant with
an upper body cuirass.In this case the chest of the npc shows in upright position
and you cover it with the cuirass.
They are harder to set up tho and the bracers and guantlets are pretty blech,
so i wont use them.
Theres more body parts that need to be covered by , gauntlets/bracers etc.
I can give you them if you want to try to set them up.

Ok heres a couple of shots of the soldier ant as i called it,
from my Play As An Ant Mod.
You can see it looks pretty nasty as well as the guantlets,
the body just looks wrong to me.
As i said tho i can give you all the meshes if u want.

I would go more for headless, but there seems to be an issue getting the upper arms to show up. Long live the Antaurs! Headless later! :biggrin:

Cool, i was going to say, to use my invisible mesh
and make some invisible boots, but you have sorted that now.
I meant to say before that you can get all the meshes,
in my Play As An Ant Mod, here in my mods section.

Basically what you have here now, looks a bit like the spiders,
in my Maze Of The Spider Queen mod.
Check it out and you will see.

That looks interesting to... :biggrin:

In the lower pic, I take it she has some kind of special Daedric blades. Are those on bracers, or were you thinking mandibles? It's kind of hard to see in the pic's angle.

Those are bracers that i made, along with the rest of the stuff.
Just realised it was 7 years ago when i made this. :surprised:

To do the feet part for the spiders, i had to use the invisible nif,
to get invisible feet. :biggrin:

Those are wicked-looking bracers.

I don't know how you do your "invisible" meshes, but I just make a completely transparent texture and then add that and the alpha property to a pair of common shoes... :)

I think I like your ant body better than the spider though. I'm kind of a "bright colors" sort of guy. I have a great little story about Picasso and bright colors that I'll have to tell you some time. Not that the brown ant is bright, exactly, but the ant colors are rich and very full, like velvet compared to cotton, eh?

It is a simple thing to make an invisible mesh.
Just start 3ds Max with an empty new scene.
Then export the scene as a nif.
Done. :biggrin:
The only problem when using an invisible nif in the CS, is
that you cant put it in the scene and then click on it,
as its invisible and there is nothing to click on. :biggrin:
Apart from that its great and you just select it the normal fashion,
of scrolling to meshes and click it.

I think the clours are ok, but the red is too bright and red.
Might darken it slightly, whereas i feel the brown is too drab,
so needs something done to liven it up.
