Ok to save making a new thread, i am going to ask a question here.
As you know i have been out of the Morrowind scene for some years.
What i want to know is: Is there a mod made yet, that allows the player to play a musical instrument ?
I know that there are some mods that have Npc's playing stuff, but its the actual gameplayers char
that i want to be able to play a pipe/pipes.
So do you Neil or Daroot, know if this has been done and if so,
where i can get hold of the stuff to check it out.?
I have searched everywhere but all i keep finding under various links,
is Dongles Instruments, but they are just for decoration.

This idea of the player playing the pipe/pipes,
is central to the mod that i want to make.
I can do it without the actual pipe playing,
but it would be so much better if i could do that.

One more thing, if i am going to do this mod,
i will be looking for more advice/knowledge,
as i plan it to contain stuff i forgot how to do years ago
and a few things that i dont really know how to do,
but i am sure you scripter dudes do. :biggrin:

I think there is a "Minstrel" mod that allows that, but DARoot would be the one to know. He pretty actively promoted it though it wasn't his. As a matter of fact, he gave it such a glowing review that I abandoned my own pale attempt in that area...

My effort allowed the player to equip a lute, and even bash someone with it as a weapon, but there was no animation for strumming. It didn't look particularly convincing in any case. :D

Another question if i may. :biggrin:
I am trying to create a new magic effect and i can get the effect tab
and change stuff around for existing effects, bu i cant find a way to do a New.
Right click and it does nothing, no button for new/create new.
So i cant change the existing ID and create a new.
I can only find the tab under Gameplay/ Magic Effects,nothing else.
So do you know where i should be looking.?

Ok i checked that mod but its only a lute, which isnt what i am looking for.
I want something that is put up to the mouth or looks kinda like that.
In saying that tho, i may have found something thru the link you gave me,
i have got it now and i am going to check it out, we shall see.

Sorry, creating new magic effects is beyond me. I seem to recall that Beth limited or restricted the ability to make new effects, and that left everyone scripting various effects attached to old ones.

FFS thats a shame lol. :sad:
So you cant even change the ID on an existing one ffs.
I wanted to make a new one so that i could make it cheap,
in repect to Spellmaking a new spell.
When i make a new Spell, it costs fuc..... thousands to use it ffs.
Even if i reduce the range etc to min which is no good for me,
it still will cost the player a fortune to use it.
I need the player to use it a lot, even if you are Nevarine,
it would break your bank after a few spells. :frustrated:

You can set cost (magicka-wise) to whatever you want by unchecking the auto-calc box on the spell. The cost of purchasing it from a mage is a different thing I think. If you want to make it available to the player at a certain price, you can use the addspell function in dialogue or script. I'd be glad to help with that if you wanted.

Yes i tried that but it still costs 16931.25 lol.
My Area, Duration and Magnitude must be far too high.
I need the spell to cover a big area tho,
and i want it to last for a little while.
Not sure about the magnitude thing but i am sure its too high too.

Heres, what i have got and its only got one effect added to it.
Probably totally wrong as i have never attempted to do any of this stuff before. :unsure:

I should really say what i am trying to do and then you may understand better, what i hope to achieve.
Years ago when i didnt know anything about modding, i wanted to make Pied Piper mod,hehe
So thats what i am trying to do now, as working on the Rats for Superkitten has brought it all back to me.
I want the char to play a pipe and rats come running, loads of rats, the player then can move on
and the rats will follow, thats why i wanted the spell to last long.
Then you just kill the rats whenever and go looking for more rats.
You get a job of sorts as official ratkiller and get paid a bounty for each rat.
You travel all thru the game and kill rats everywhere.
Lots more and more involved, but i think you will get the idea i am trying to do now.
