So ive sat for the last nearly hour and tried to make a simple transparent mesh.
What a joke lol. :frustrated:

Now i have no idea if its because the image i am trying to use is duff,
or because i am not doing what is required in Max. :unsure:
I could probably work out the max part eventually,
but i dont even know if the image i am trying to use is right or not ffs.
May be now you can understand why i shy away from Alphas.

Okay, I'm not great with different photoshops or GIMP I use an old Photoshop 7.0 that's not like anything modern. Anyway, it looks to me like you've got your alpha on it... The black that is behind the net texture is the alpha, and theoretically, the darker it is, the more transparent it is.

So then, if you use that texture, and you get a solid white object in game, or solid white with the net design, then you need to add the alpha property to the mesh itself, as I described earlier. You should then get what you want. I presume Max also has a means of adding the alpha property to the mesh itself, but I know nothing of how to do that, I can't even manage Blender... :D

I made the map black as it could at 000, so by rights only the white parts should show
Max has a slot on the materials tab for Opacity, so i put the map in there,
then when you export, you get to export as 1 bit alpha, so i did that.
So the mesh came out all white, as if untexed.

I did it again but texed the plane with the image this time
and again i exported it as 1 bit alpha and thats what you see in the screenie.
I will have a look for a how to and see what i am doing wrong,
tomorrow when i have had a sleep. :biggrin:

FFS finally found a good tut and i am pretty confident, i am doing the right thing in Max now.
Its still not working tho ffs.
This is what i am getting now.

Started trying a DXT 5 image but it seems to make no difference.
Going to stop with this and get back to the sounds and stuff i am doing.
