US time change

Postby Spirited Treasure » Sat Mar 12, 2016 11:44 am

Don't forget to spring forward one hour tonight before going to sleep.
I am but a fragment cast apart from the whole.
A bit of flotsam to cling to in the storm.

I am a fly in the ointment, I am a whisper in the shadows.
I am also an old old woman. More than that you need not know.

Step carefully. No path is darker than when your eyes are shut.

Hopefully we'll eventually be rid of this nonsense. Thanks for the reminder ST.

I agree with what Jac said.
Why? I like big ones, that's why.

Well, I sprang forward, but I tripped over a dateline and fell into yesterday...

It's not just the USA (see link) http://www.timeanddate.com/time/dst/history.html

Native Americans have a different outlook on Daylight Savings time. "Only the white man would think he can make a blanket longer by cutting a foot off of the top and sewing it onto the bottom..." :)

Since I am not white in any way imaginable, I second this native american saying.

I'm white, and the whole idea of schematizing time, much less changing it arbitrarily, still puzzles me.

Who decides something like this? Isn't it up to the people to think if they want to keep it or change it?
