Independence Day

Postby fleet » Sat Jul 04, 2015 11:33 am

July 4.
Happy Independence Day, USA!

We have lots of problems, but I'd rather live here than a lot of other places.
Why? I like big ones, that's why.

Happy Independence Day! I'm going to strike some matches, and call it fireworks, I may even light a homemade bottle rocket, and THEN.... I'm going to drive 15 miles (one way) to pick up a half-rack of ribs from Dickies Barbecue Pit. My wifey and I will then proceed to have a picnic in our living room, and pig out in style! 8-)

How did you know? They had no meats left at Dickie's, so I went to jack in the crack instead. Got some nice burgers, added some barbecue sauce jalapenos, and a sprinkle Louisiana hot sauce. Dickies did apologize nicely, and when I started sobbing on the cashier's shoulder they gave me a coupon for a free sandwich... I'll get that and my ribs next week, I guess...

Not sure if you're joking or not. My family's tried going to Dickie's multiple times, and the servings were always ridiculously small, and they often got our order wrong.

Moral of the story is, don't eat at Dickie's, you'll be disappointed one way or another.

Heh, this time they were actually sold out of meat. I was really curious how you would know that, eh? :surprised: I get along fine with Dickie's generally, but it's a trick you see. I don't order individual meals, so I've never seen what gets on the plate for a single meal. I always just go in and order a half-rack of ribs. It's usually about the same size each time, within a few ounces maybe, six ribs and they throw in the butt end for free...

Then I go to the supermarket deli and buy potato salad, cole slaw, or whatever for a side. In the end the whole thing costs about $15 to $17 and we get two meals out of it.

Yeah, that's the key. You order the side meal elsewhere. Never get the sides from Dickie's.

But anyway, happy late Independence Day. Didn't do any fireworks here because we live in the mountains full of trees in California. The last thing we need right now is fire.
