A Clothing Maker

Postby Kagz » Fri Mar 23, 2012 6:50 am

Ok i am looking for the assistance of a clothing maker,
to make this outfit for me.
I am pretty sure it can be done, but it will involve alphas,
to hide parts of the dress etc and i cant do alphas,
as everyone know by now. :crying:

So can someone make this for me please.

EDIT: Should have said, dont need the boots as should be able to adapt game ones.

Greetings, Kagz
I would be very happy to try to assist you with your "Alpha-Channel" texturing request.
This is an area that I am comfortable, and confident in.
HOWEVER -- I would have to use existing meshes (whether already "Alpha-enabled," or I attempt using Neildarkstar's method to add Alphas), since I cannot make new ones. I would be very careful to note whose (original) mesh I used, so permissions could be obtained, or "credit where credit is due" could be given [unlike in my own slapdash modding efforts...]

They would, of course, be Better Bodies type. That's all I use, so that would be what you get.

Just a few questions --
1) Do you have any larger versions of the textures, that could be "cut & pasted" onto the (non-transparent) areas of the mesh texture?
Your "thumbnail" image would yeild, I think, some very yugly in-game results...
2) What do you want the back to look like?
[2a) And, err, how about the groin? Not to put too fine a point on it, but your "thumbnail" doesn't give too much information about what you want in that area [This is actually important, since it has a bearing on which Body Part (BP) the outfit uses].
3) Would you want both male and female versions, or female-only?
[Gets back to 2a, because of possible ..."poke-through"... issues]
4) Do you want the necklace as part of the outfit, or as a separate item?
5) Do you want it set up as clothing, or armor?
[Probably not important, since you know how to change that in the Construction Set, but figured I'd ask anyway...]

As I look at this image, I'm thinking three parts --
- a shirt/tunic, that includes the chest/skirt (and possibly necklace), the wrist bracers, and the lower arm wraps;
- the boots (I have some good meshes that would work, but you say you can probably make the boots yourself, so, unsure...)
- pants (or, at least an upward extension of the Right Boot), to provide the leather cingulum (band) on the right leg.

Of course, you could just wait a week or so, for someone else more skilled and proficient to volunteer here.
But, the offer has been made....

Wow you ask a lot of questions lol  :P
Ok my fault for not making it clearer in the start.

First off, thankyou for responding and offering assistance, i appreciate it.

Now, as far as meshes go, i was thinking of maybe some of Neo Livs meshes,
as i am pretty sure they would do.
If not i think the top/dress could be made from any female robe,
with the right parts invisble thru alphas.
Same goes for the arm thingies, they would be part of the robe.
Dont need permissions for Neo Livs stuff, just have to give her credit,
"if" you are planning on releasing a mod, to the public.
At this point in time i was only looking for a personal mod,
for me to use in my game, that i need help with to realise.
Not a releasable mod, so no permissions would be needed.
However if the stuff turned out real nice, then a releasable mod might be on the cards,
then of course credits would have to be given to Neo Liv.
Hope this sorts out the grey area of permission/credits.

1.Next the textures, once again i should have made it clear that the outfit,
doesnt have to look exactly like the one i showed.
In that it could be any colour or designs, i dont really care too much about that,
as getting the shape/look of the outfit spot on or near as damn it.
The image i showed is a poser figure with poser clothing,
so i cannot use the poser textures and release it to the public.
I can take renders of the figure with the gear on and do it that way,
or i can use the actual poser textures adapted for my own personal game.
That is the reason i say about, it doesnt matter, if the outfit isnt the same colour/pattern as i showed.
So we would have to discuss this point further and come to some arrangement on what textures,
you want to use for me.

2.As for the back of the dress and such, i would provide you with as many images,
like the one i posted in any size, that you needed to let you see the whole thing.

2a, As for the groin i wanted nothing just the bare ass, so to speak.
The poser outfit comes with a skimpy pair of undies or a pair of shorts.
I dont like the shorts and you cant see the undies, only a thin tiny strap at the side.
I like it bare assed as it looks more sexy. hehe.

3. For me personally only female, as i play only female chars, never the ugly males.
There again if it was to come to a release, then a male version might be cool.

4. Dont really care about the necklace, if its easy to do, then sure i would like it,
but if its not then just forget it.
If you are going to do it, then do what you like, thats easiest for you.

5. As you say it doesnt matter, as i can make it what i feel like.

The three part thing was what i was thinking of.
As far as the boots go i was going to use the boots, ffs cant remember the name now,
but its the boots that the first guard, that tells you to follow him and get your butt up on deck, is wearing.
I think they are just about right shape etc for the job.
Of course i havent seen the boots you speak of,
so they may be better, i dont know.

As far as waiting for someone better to come along,
i dont hold out much hope, as i posted the same request at GHF,
where there is quite a lot more traffic than here and i have had no replies,
or offers, or any interest shown in the idea whatsoever.
So take from that what you will.
I normally would have first asked, my very good friend Westly to do it for me,
but he is out of the loop at the moment and busy with exams and real life things.
So thats the reason, i am requesting this from a wide audience as possible.

Ok going to have to stop now as i feel i have completed a questionare or survey,
or an application for a job lol.
Its approx 3 am and i am shagged out, so going to hit the hay and will look in
later today to see what you are saying.

Thanks again for offering, it makes me think that when i offer and help someone,
then at least i know someone may help me if i need it. :shades:

Night night.

Daroot check your PM's. :hubba:

Ok apologies for this but i need to do it lol.
FFS Win 7 is a piece of shit ffs lol.
Aaaaaarrrrgggggghhhh :crying:
I am as usual trying to work on too much stuff at the one time.
So i am working on the Rats for Superkitten and i am working on my creature sound replacer mod.
If that wasnt enough, i decided i was going to make some cacti.
So rather than fuck about with using 2 comps, so i can use Max 5,
i decided to use Max 2012 under win 7 on my new machine.
Everything was going excellently and i even amazed myself by managing somehow (dont understand how yet),
to export the nif with transparency intact.
So that meant i was able to reproduce the spikes on the cactus and they were working perfectly.

Fantastic i thought, but then of course ffs, it all fucked up. :crying:
For some reason, i dont know what, but i think its just win 7 piece of shit,
3 ds max crashed and when i restarted it i cant Move the mesh in max in the normal way. :frustrated:
All it will let me do is free move, in that the mesh can be moved anywhere on the x-z planes,
without any of the usual small intricate moves that you need to do.
Makes it very difficult to place stuff exactly.
Also it wont let me move anything on the Y axis ffs.

Tried everything i know to fix it, including pressing all buttons in max,
but nothing fixes it.
So reset to default, didnt fix it.
IN a desperate last ditch stand, i uninstalled max and reinstalled,
which takes nearly 2 hours to do ffs lol
Of course that didnt work either, how surprisiing

So did it all again but this time used another prog to completely wipe all traces of max from my comp.
After another 2+ hours i found out it still wasnt working.
So started again and did it all again, another 2+ hours
and of course it still doesnt work ffs. :frustrated:
So that is the reason why i was up at 3 am this morning and able to post in this thread.

What this all means is that max 2012 is useless for me and i am going to have to use max 5,
on the old machine for everything now, a lot of hassle ffs.
The saddest part is yet to come tho, because after trying to do it in max 5,
i find that i cant get the alphaed, transparent spikes to work ffs noooooooooo
Therefore if i am going to continue with my cacti mod,
i will have to make them all spikeless ffs. :crying:

So you can probably imagine how i feel right now, totally pissed off with win 7 shit lol.
Apologies again for the rant, but i needed to get it out.

Yeah, I hear ya, Kagz, and feel your pain.
I use Windows Vista (probably 'nough said right there...)
Since I tend to want to use a lot of "older" games (programs, utilities, etc.), it is extremely frustrating when Vista won't even let me install them, telling me I need a "32-bit" installer (rather than a 16-bit), or some such nonsense, and I should "contact the manufacturer" for an update. Real helpful, since the "manufacturer" is usually out of business, or no longer supporting whatever the program is.

Well, then we start looking at Internet gaming forums (or, in the case of 3DsMax 2012, technical forums), to see if some kindly 3rd-party user (jus' folks, like us 'uns around here), has released a program or posted a tutorial on how to work around it.
Amazing, sometimes, what you can find on the Internet, and there is always something new to learn every day.
As the Rolling Stones say, "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you just might find, you get what you need."

[Although, I kinda think Neildarkstar has the right idea -- Go to a "Mom & Pop" computer store, pick up a Windows XP machine for next to nothing, install all the Service Packs, and simply enjoy, and screw this new, improved technology [unless you absolutely, positively, have to have the latest version of Madden NFL 2013 or Super Mario Bothers XXIII, or some such... And those are probably "exported" from the XBox 360 version anyway...]

Y'know windows XP will run those new games and such for the most part, it's just a question of 32 bit or 64 bit, and the quality of your video card as measured against your CPU and system RAM.

Cool i didnt think of that probably because it was 3 in the morning and i was shagged out lol.
I think my brain stopped working, after the second uninstall and reinstall point.
I have now searched the net and i may have found a solution.
Wont know for about another hour or so tho, until i get Max installed again for the umpteenth time ffs.
Will post the results, keeping my fingers and all else crossed.

EDIT: I am now 12 minutes into the install and it is still working out system requirements ffs lol.
Hasnt even started to actually install yet. :crying:
FFS Max 5 installs in about 10 to 15 minutes n/p.
I thought that newer technology was supposed to mean faster, yeah right ffs. :frustrated:
