Can't you see it's where a bunch of wolves gather at tables in the wilderness to eat fruit, and Turkey :mockery:

Turkey: Native American wild fowl (also domesticated), traditional main course served at Thanksgiving.
Why? I like big ones, that's why.

Happy thanksgiving, everyone! Y'know... Somehow it's hard to decipher time zones and differences, but it seems that it's always tomorrow somewhere, and yesterday somewhere else. I guess it's a good thing Thanksgiving always seems to fall on Thursday... ;)

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

To me, though taxonomists would surely string me up, a wild turkey is a great big prairie chicken, the chicken is a big quail, and a quail is just a big squab. The meat gets lighter and drier from pigeon to turkey. Turkey breast is probably the whitest and driest of all commercially produced poultry, but if you cook it the way Jac does, it is juicy and easy to eat.

The turkey is one of those wild birds that pretty much thrives in almost all of the United States and was once considered for national bird, but it lost out to the bald eagle; probably because, although the US is supposed to be the "land of plenty", we don't like folks taking our plenty away. I think a good, telling symbol for the US would be a nice fat wild turkey being guarded by a stern bald eagle.

But, amongst all the eating, family get-togethers, and occasional family fights, please remember the purpose of the holiday. It provides a day to give thanks to your deity, or science, or your head of household, for providing what you've needed to survive another year. Originally, the pilgrims gave thanks to God and the natives who brought the food to the table and for their survival. What came later really has nothing to do with the holiday itself.

Unfortunately, most of our traditions have fallen victim to "cultural vandalism" with people insisting the celebration of them is either ignorant or in support of some atrocity or other our ancestors perpetrated.

So, I hope everyone has a safe, comfortable holiday in which they are free to celebrate (or not) as they please.
Available for weddings, funerals, hand fasting, and baptisms.
